Check and Verify your ESTA Status
It is possible to verify or update your ESTA status. There are several reasons for checking your travel authorization for the US. We have outlined several reasons for checking and verifying your ESTA status on this page. You may want to know the expiration dateor retrieve your authorization number before your next trip to the United States. If your ESTA or passport has expired, you are required to reapply before entering the USA.
Verify the status of your ESTA travel authorization if:
- You are unsure if your travel authorization has expired
- There is someone in your travel group, in your family or e.g. a colleague that are not certain about the status or their ESTA document
- You have lost your application number
- You are unsure if you have ever applied
If you check your travel authorization and it has expired, but you wish to visit the United States using the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), you are required to reapply for ESTA. It is not possible extend your travel authorization. Travel authorizations for visits to the USA are valid for 2 years. If you apply for a new ESTA while your previous authorization is active, it will automatically be replaced with your new authorization.
